NIST Net Zero

The Net Zero Residential Test Facility (NZEROTF) is a new single-family residence that is to be operated as a residential test facility. The NZEROTF is a two-story wood-framed structure with 4 bedrooms,3 full baths, 2,600 SF on the 1st & 2nd floors and 1,500 SF in the basement. The structure is clad with fiber cement siding. The project also includes a single-story wood-framed detached garage that is to be conditioned and contain monitoring equipment for the residence, but is not part of the net zero facility. The garage is 624 SF an is clad with fiber cement siding. A breezeway connects the garage to the residence. Site work includes utility work, a new driveway and walkways to the garage and residence as well as new landscaping, both plantings and permanent fixtures. The project will be registered with the U.S. Green Building Council for certification. The process for the design and construction of this building employs a LEED for Homes tracking system to significantly reduce its impact on the environment.
