Build a new four story apartment building over first floor retail on an in-fill lot between two existing buildings across the street from the new DC Convention Center. Poor soils & proximity to Metro subway tunnels required that foundations be built using geopiles and grade beams. Tight quarters and security concerns were paramount obstacles. Project won the Architectural Foundation Pro Bono Award for Mixed Income Housing & the AIA Merit Award for Outstanding Achievement in Architecture.
