Therrien Waddell was honored on May 5th at the 2009 National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) Awards of Excellence Gala for the “Best Industrial/Flex Office Building”. The project consisted of a new two-story, 37,000 square foot building with corporate offices and warehouse for Singleton Electric Company in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Therrien Waddell teamed up with DVA Architects and constructed the new facility while Singleton continued to occupy their existing office headquarters on site. Extensive underground excavation required shoring and concrete foundation retaining walls for the structural steel and masonry structure. The exterior of the building consists of composite metal panels, brick veneer, and EIFS. The second floor custom  offices featured pocket doors, interior glass wall panels, stained millwork & wood trim, individual office climate and lighting controls, specialty lighting, state of the art media, conference and training areas, a fitness room and elevator. Therrien Waddell performed the services of a Construction Manager at Risk. While Singleton self performed the electrical portion of the project, the partnering effort by all parties early in the design and project development stages contributed greatly to the success of the effort on all sides and the subsequent honor received by the  NAIOP award.
