NIST Net Zero House Presentation & Tour for USGBC
A panel of specialists gathered October 26, 2011 to discuss the Net Zero House, currently under construction at the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST). About forty guests were in attendance for the lunch ‘n learn, planned by the USGBC NCR Montgomery County Branch.
Dr. Hunter Fanney, who is the manager of NIST’s Photovoltaic Lab and the Net Zero project facility, discussed the project formation and design. Kevin Gallagher, Therrien Waddell’s Site Manager, reviewed the project’s construction challenges and current progress. Andrea Foss of Everyday Green discussed the LEED checklist for residential facilities. Everyday Green has been hired as a consultant to NIST for the Net Zero House.
Following the presentation, a tour of the Net Zero House was held on-site. The presenters were on hand to lead the tour and address specific questions.
