Green Roof Event Held at Gaithersburg Youth Center
On May 11, 2011, DC-Area professionals gathered at the Gaithersburg Youth Center in Olde Towne for a presentation by Scott Titanish of Riverbend Nursery, a local grower for LiveRoof©. Mr. Titanish explained the environmental, aesthetic, and financial benefits associated with green roofs. Mr. Titanish explained how LiveRoof© makes use of compartmentalized modules that are grown locally and then professionally installed for an instantly full-grown green roof. The unique maintenance requirements were also discussed, ranging from the initial setup stage to monthly or annual upkeep.
Following the presentation, the group toured the LEED Platinum Youth Center, which is comprised of a various assortment of innovative and green building materials.
